hey...so i took out one of the spacers under the stem to get into a more aero pose...and when i took it out for a ride yesterday i noticed that when i hit bumps there was an unfamiliar feel/sound...i stopped and grabbed the fork to see if it was loose and it was...i could grab the fork and wiggle it back and forth in the headtube just a little bit...

how do i tighten that up? is it the bolt that goes down into the fork and holds down the cap on top?

Did you make sure that you put the removed spacer back on top of the stem before tightening everything?

I found that one out the hard way too. Thankfully, I figured out what was wrong before taking my bike to the LBS--they're nice enough that they don't laugh at me to my face, but who knows what happens once I leave the store...:)

If you don't want to replace the spacers on top of the stem, you have to get your steering tube cut down (which would definitely mean a trip to the LBS for me).

apparently this is a common mistake.
