I have been reading through threads on knee pain and didn't quite see exactly what I was looking for...

I have been running for years and the last 3 weeks have started riding nearly everyday. I am completely new to the entire cycling thing, I had my bike fitted at the LBS back 2 months ago. Here's the problem, while cycling I get discomfort on my left knee, on the outside right at the joint. I have noticed the last few rides that my right clip/pedal, whatever it is called, has much more float than my left. I'm sure it has to do with my form, I have been trying to watch to see if my knee is turning out, but it doesn't appear to be, if anything it seems to be turning in a little. Sorry if this doesn't make any sense. Is there something I can do with my cleats/pedals to fix this?

I have an older set of look pedals, how do I know if the spring tension is adjustable?

Thanks

Shorty

If the tension on the pedals is adjustable there is likely a small allen bolt on the rear of the pedal.

As for the fit, most LBS's do their best but it may not be sufficient. You may just need to move the cleat this way or that a little. You can play with it yourself or find a certified fitter. A real fit can take a couple of hours and it won't be cheap, but it's the best upgrade you can get.

Figured it out. As I was getting tired, the ol' knee was turning out. The last few rides I've done, including a very fast 20mi the other night I really concentrated on keeping that knee in line and voila problem solved.
