Aerobars?
I'm familiar with this problem. My Felt F1X has the same set-up. It's 28mm to 31mm at the stem clasp point. There are several options.
You can mount STI levers on bull horn bars. I'm not familiar with each application and whether the particular model your speak of will accept the levers, but I suspect that it might be an option.
A cheaper route might be to find a new stem and road drops with a standard diameter to accept the aero bars you current have. You can get good stuff on ebay pretty cheap. Know the length and rise of your stem.

You dont want to mount that Sora stuff on a bull horn. You best option is to get a new drop bar and stem. They can be had cheap from anywhere online.

I too had the exact same problem with my late Felt. Instead of changing the shifting setup, I had my LBS install a new handlebar (Profile Design Hammer Bar) and put my aerobars onto the new handlebars. For the aerobars, new handlebars & labor I paid $218.
I got a set of Profile Design T2+ bars, and I'm having the same issue with the taper on my Specialized Allez Elite. The handlebar is Specialized Pro and has the numbers 6061 and 305 on it. So is the only good solution really to get a new drop bar? If so, what would be a good one comparable to the one I currently have?
The T2+ comes with a bracket that allows you to put the clip-ons on two different width handlebars.
I'm not sure what those widths are, but your LBS could probably tell you if they'll fit or not...

I don't really know why I can't start a new thread, so i will post my question on this thread and hope somebody answers. I just bought a new cannondale R1000 that I love. the bike shop threw in some aerobars because they knew I did tris. i'm a rookie and don't really understand the pros and cons of triathlon/TT specific bikes and road bikes or road bikes with triathlon handlebars. i know the frames have different geometry, but how and what? here is my situation. i plan on staying in this sport because i'm addicted after my first sprint tri. the road bike i have now is awesome in my opinion and a great value. how common is it for people to put bullhorn tri bars on a road bike? i can't justify or talk the wife into a TT bike (yet) but it seems i can do this pretty easily. or at least my bike shop could. would the geometry of my road bike be compatible with tri bars? what about the seat angle? would another saddle be more ideal?


I recently bought myself a new 2005 Norco CRD which came with Ritchey Handlebars. When I went to add my clip on aerobars they would not fit. The problem is that the centre of the bar starts thick and then tapers to a smaller diameter. This taper is right where my aerobar would need to clip on.
I've been looking on the web and found a nice set from Ritchey, I believe it was called the Probiscus.? It is a bull horn and aerobar system all in one. I have shimano Sora brake lever/gear shifters on my bike right now. Would I be able to use these or would I have to order new shifters and brake levers as well? I'm not too mechanically inclined and if I have to buy too many components I'll probably scrap the idea and just ride it as it is. Any ideas?
