Racing on a new bike?
Definitely get a good shakedown ride on it first.
Is it a long race?
If so, I might be concerned that your position on the bike hasn't been tuned in. That takes some long rides to iron out.
Tho, If I built a bike I'd want to race it as soon as possible.

Ya, just make sure it's dialed in to the exact measurements as the one you've been training on. Slight variations can definitely have a negative impact, especially over longer courses.
I would say dont race it. I'd like to see you take a week of riding first. Newly built bike always have some minor thing that needs to be adjusted. That minor thing may make your race miserable.
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
you'll be fine if it is a sprint, maybe even oly.... but I wouldn't do a 1/2 iron distance race on a brand new bike (or iron distance)
the problem you may have is that your cables could stretch (especially if its been sitting on a shelf for 9 months and you're gonna put 30+ miles on it, even moreso if it is a technical course) which would throw off your shifting alignment

I built up a new bike and it's going to be complete this afternoon! I'll post pics later when it's done.
Anyhow, is it safe to race on it tomorrow morning provided I take it on a ride tonight? I built it myself so I know everything is tight and ready to go. Everything is new, fits like a glove, don't see why not?
Any reason not to?
