ladies: padded seat cover or gel-padded bike shorts?
I have heard that some of the extra padding solutions can cause more pain, because they provide more to rub against and then more chaffing.
I use a Terry Butterfly Tri Gel saddle (has gel in the nose part for aeroposition) and find it much better that my old saddle though. So it could be worth a try...
The saddle that one person thinks is the greatest is a torture device to another. For me any saddle with a cut out is a torture device but I know many ladies who swear by them. So you just have to keep trying different ones - I have a collection of 5 or 6.
In my experience adding extra padding with a gel/padded seat cover is a bad thing - too much extra stuff to get bunched up and cause problems. I don't care for the gel padded shorts either, it seems like it's moving around. Sometimes less is better.
I use a Fi'zi:k Arione Tri, it has some extra padding in the nose. My long ride last w/e was 105 miles in tri shorts and I didn't have any problems but maybe I have an iron butt.

i'm still struggling with pain in the saddle:( , and working with my bike shop on positioning to help. but i'm wondering if any of you (ladies in particular) use padded or gel-padded seat covers? or gel-padded bike shorts? i'm thinking maybe that would help ease some of the pain...
