Last Saturday, I was out on the most miserable training ride ever. Chilly (its June for chrissake, its supposed to be warmer than 50 degrees), pissing raining and a miserable head wind no matter what direction I rode in. Being new to triahtlon and cycling being the event I'm the greenest at, that was a pretty discouraging ride. So it was hard to force myself to go out for my training ride this evening. But I am sooooo glad I did. I found some great roads with rolling hills through gorgeous farm country that were nearly devoid of cars. The temperature was perfect, there was very little wind and soon the rhythm of the cadence took over and I just kept going. Before I knew I rode longer than I ever had before. And enjoyed it. Now I see what people enjoy so much about cycling!:o

I know what you mean. Some days it's real hard to get out on the bike, but when I do, I remember how much fun and how enjoyable it is. It's becoming my favorite part of training.

Hope your weather gets better..........

I can relate. I just made my annual migration from NC to Upstate NY. This is the first year that I've brought up my bikes and I'm hoping to spend the next two months exploring the roads, trails, and lakes of the area. You're right about how the rolling hills, farmland and lightly-travelled roads are awesome. This place is perfect for my "IM Summer training camp." I'm also hoping the hills turn my legs into machines!

Yeah, some rides just work out to be down-right miserable. I'm glad you found the joy of cycling.

Eventually even some rides that used to be thought of as crappy become enjoyable. :) And pretty much any day on the road beats a day on the trainer.

And to add to my joy, I finally found a riding partner! It will be so nice to have some company on those long rides through the countryside!!!:D

Now that I'm riding at least 3 days per week and the weather is nicer, I too am really beginning to enjoy cycling. Riding in the city sucks, but we have a couple of highways nearby and once you hit one of those you can forget about the cars and lights and stuff and just go. It feels great!:D
