Stretching before workout

I don't stretch before any of my workouts. I learned that stretching while cold (pre workout) is bad because it causes a sudden shock to the muscles. I usually just take the first 5 minutes/ 2-300 yards to warm up before a workout and then stretch if I'm tight. It has worked so far (knock on wood).

I do the same - no stretching - I use the warmup to get everything loosened up before getting into the main set.

I've heard this in running as well. I stretch anyway, helps me get in the right mindset.
