I did my second triathlon this past weekend and am eagerly looking forward to a couple more this summer. There were just about 200 people entered in this well organized pool swim tri.

Every time I have to estimate my swim time I get stressed that it won't be that accurate and then I get there and realize that anybody who swims at the speed I do isn't worried about losing 3 seconds if somebody needs to pass :D I thought I'd have a hard time keeping up with the other two ladies in my lane but then I needed to pass them in the first two lengths. Of course then I was worried that I needed to stay ahead so I pushed hard and ended up a length ahead at the end and with a personal best during the swim.

It was pretty chilly on the bike and in T2 I had trouble doing up my running shoes because my hands were so cold. I really need to start using the heart rate monitor on the bike when training again because I seem to find it really difficult to push hard on the bike and Sunday was no exception. While I was 12/21 in my age group during the swim, and 9/21 in the run, I was 16/21 during the bike and I have a decent bike. I've found my new focus for the next two months!!

The run was good except for a side stitch during the last kilometer or so - I NEVER get those but I think I mistimed eating before the race so I'll have my banana earlier next time. How I, a 185 pound, 5'9" woman can have her fastest leg as the run - I don't know but it was. My running partner is about 50 -60 pounds lighter (and only about 4 - 6 inches shorter) and has been running forever so I think trying to keep up with her in the mornings has been good for me.

It was a blast and it felt great to finish #2 - I'm officially addicted now.

Hey way to go. Are you doing the 1/2 IM at Sylvan Lake this year. It looks like its will be a pretty big event this year.

I moved away from Red Deer 3 years ago and miss your city a whole lot. Anyways good luck on your next tri.

Hey nice job!
Might want to look at getting some Yankz for your running shoes - won't have to worry about tying laces - they work great.
Congrats! :)
