I use black hocky tape. Cheap, and works for me on the aerobars.

Did you wrap it yourself? Bar tape will hold better if you keep some tension while wrapping it. This way the tension is what will keep the tape on the bar more than relying on the slim weak adhesive strip.

I have a Felt cross bike and the bar tape has held up fine. Maybe just a crappy wrap from the factory. If the tape is new and still good reuse it!

My guess is that the heat caused the electrical tape used to hold the end of the bar tape in place failed. This can happen when it gets extremely hot. The adhesive gets weak and lets go.

Felt uses non-adhesive var tape and crappy "electrical tape" to hold it on. Either rewrap it really tight and use electrical tape or get some adhesive backed bar tape. Cinelli Cork is the best.

I've used profile design synthetic w/cork and it works fine...
trick is when you wrap it to wrap from the "inside out" passing over the top of the bar (it's based on how your hand puts pressure on the bars when you're riding)
if you wrap it the otherway, you will actually undo the wrap.
