Lake Mills Sprint Tri
Unfortunately no. I'm doing an oly in Delavan the day before, and the 56-mile Miller Lite ride on June 4, so no Lake Mills for me.
The lakes are still reportedly very cold. I bought a wetsuit hood for that weekend. I think I'll get to try it once in open water before the race.
I'm thinking about doing it... I have a flight that gets in to chicago at like 9 pm the night before but its on the possibilities list...
hmm so i'll get home at midnight, then 1.5 hour drive to the race leaving at quarter to 5... sounds fun...
maybe
is it a fun race? will it be full if I try to register 2-3 days before the race?
I don't think last minute registration should be a problem - think usually around 700 competitors. It is a nice race. I use it to kick off the season - shake off the rust. Last year the water was quite cold. I had problems breathing in it. I also bought one of those dorky looking neoprene caps. Will see if that helps.
The course is pretty fast.

The water was frigid 2 years ago, too --- half-way through, I was on my back, en route to one of my worst finishes ever.
Delavan Lake should be pretty cold, too. I might ride my bike up there this weekend (maybe 75 mi. roundtrip) and check out both the course and the water temp. In years past, this race director has been very lax in marking his courses, but I hear that USAT was notified, and hopefully that won't be a problem anymore.
Best of luck.

OK I signed up. What the heck?
I'm in awful shape right now. I really skimped on the training this year. But I love racing my way into shape...

Just received an update from the race director: Tim Deboom is tentatively scheduled to race the Lake Mills Triathlon on Sunday, June 4th.
I'm doing this one - fun race to kick off the season here in SE Wis. Hopefully the water will get a chance to warm up some. It was freezing last year...
Any one else doing this one?
