Virginia Run Sprint

This was my first triathlon. I scheduled this strategically since I am training for the Chicago Triathlon in August and thought this would give me a nice feel for how the whole thing works.

Everything worked pretty well, except for a few lessons learned:
1. Spent way too much time in transitions. I wasted almost 8 minutes in transition, this was difference between a top 100 finish and 169 overall.
2. Flat tire. I got a flat on the first loop of the six mile, 2 loop course. I jumped off the bike and pumped a CO2 into it which helped a little, but I was completely flat by the time I came in for T2. Found out later that I had a small shard of glass stuck in my tire.
3. Pool swims are easy! The ppol was such a cluster-F that most of the swimmers ended up "walking" the swim in the shallow because the exit was backed up.

All-in-all this was great event and I will do it again next year. I finished 169 out of 500, which I think is pretty respectable for my first event. Now I am full force ahead for the Chicago Olympic distance tri.
