now that i have it, im wondering where best to find an old cheap stainless steel skewer...

also, i have heard some issues of people burning up their tires on trainers...any suggestions?

Hop on performancebike.com or soemthing and buy the cheapest skewer and a cheap set of wire bead tires. My bike came stock with Bontrager Select wire beads. Those things are tough as heck and I cannot imagine wearing em down.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

You may want to try your LBS for a cheap skewer, since a lot of online places only sell pairs. Look for one with a nice fat round steel end nut on the non-quick release side, as those tend to hold better in the trainer cups than the alloy ones.
