How to get blood to legs after swim?

Yesterday was my first race of the year...a sprint. I forgot how hard it is going all out in each event. I seriously questioned myself during the run, "WHY am I doing this?...this is not fun." Thankfully I have a short-term memory when it comes to pain and all was forgotten once I hit the finish line. I love triathlons. I suppose everyone goes through this duality.

On to my question. Does anyone start kicking a lot more rapidly towards the end of the swim in order to get blood flowing to the legs before the bike? My legs felt like anchors for the first 5-7 miles and it got me thinking of how I could change that. Kind of like how we start spinning towards the end of the bike leg to help with the run transition.

Yeah I read somewhere some people kick a little more when in the last 100mtrs or so of the swim, but I never did that and had no troubles biking the first miles.

I guess, like running after the bike .. you get used to it..?
Dunno..you'll probably get better every time.

Ya, kick more should help with that.
Usually it is suggested to increase the kick to aid you transitioning from the swim to the run to T1.

The kicking idea is one I've heard before. I do it to an extent, but never so much that I'm going anaerobic.

Did you spin at the beginning of the bike leg? If not, try going out in an easier gear at a higher cadence to see if that helps wake the legs up.

No, I didn't spin at first. I've heard that before, but I must have forgotten. What also might have been a factor too is that I arrived a little late and didn't have time to warm-up on the bike.

I had a problem with this at my first several triathlons and even while training, but I decided to switch all my swim workouts to bricks and it has made a notable difference.

I´m a begginer also but... in the races I´ve done I have never had a problem with this.

I have to agree with Beldrueger BRICK training is your answer.

You can also switch to breast stroke for the last 50-100m which will help bring more blood into the legs before T1.
