Sorry if this question gets asked a lot but I justed registered for my first tri (which I'm pumped about) and I'm not sure what to take. It's a sprint distance. Obviously, the essentials for the race, but what will I need for the transitions? and am I going to have to wear a number or do they write one on you?
The list of essentials I've come up with are:
For swim: shorts, shirt, goggles, (cap provided)
For bike: bike, helmet, water bottle, shoes, extras include seat bag and tools
For Run: shoes and socks

If you see anything lacking or have found things not always consedered to be helpful, please let me know. Your suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks in advance.

are the shorts and shirt that you listed under the swim category your bike shorts and jersey? You should wear those for the swim and then go straight to the bike. Don't take close off and don't put clothes on. Do you have a wetsuit? you may want one.

Patience, resolve, personal courage, common sense, guts and a sense of humor...

I'm serious...they will go a long way on race day...don't forget 'em.
