Yesterday I completed the longest endurance event that I have ever done at the White Lake Half in North Carolina. I have to say that I am really happy with my performance considering I was three minutes faster than my predicted 'best-scenario' time. I figured by my training that on my best day I could do 5:30, but went 5:27 so I'm pretty happy. Must have happened on the bike because looking at the computer I was averaging a sweet pace. Gotta hand that to the pancake flat course though.

On the other hand I have never felt so bad on a 13 mile run before, but after 5 miles or so I was able to open up my stride which not only allowed me to pick up the pace but actually made me feel more comfortable.

The morning started off on the wrong foot when I ripped the seam where the valve stem meets the tire on my rear wheel. This was forty minutes before the race and all I had was a patch kit which wouldn't fix this rip. Fortunately sponsors for the races plan better than I and I was able to buy a new tire there. But once I was in the water all butterflies were gone and I was focused on the race. I look forward to doing this race again next year.

For anyone interested in the future, as I said the course is pancake flat and the water was very nice. :D

Sounds like you need to work on your 'best-scenario' time estimates! :D
Awesome job!
