Training Length
Still learning on this so others will offer more I am sure. Sprint can be done in about three months (couch to race). I know because I have helped lots to do it. Olympic will take about a month more than that. Anything bigger than that will take almost year round devotion to rotating the different disciplines. With a full on training season for half iron in the range of 6 months and year if not two for iron. That has been my learnin' from some locals that have done it. I am only into the last month of 6 for the HIM with four years of sprints behind me... So it took me a while to get up to the HIM :o

I did my first race (couch to race) in 2 months and knocked out a 1:19 sprint. The next season ( after not really doing anything during the first season) I did an olympic on 4 months training. After that I was consistant and did a half earlier this year in March. I trained solely for that race for about 5 months. I think most IM plans vary, but most are about 6 months long (mind you, the athlete starting the plan has a few years of training and is in good shape)

I am new to triathlon training. I have a great training plan in place. My question is, how long does it really take to train for a sprint triathlon, olympic, half im, and finally the IM?
Train as you would fight, and fight as you would train
