What I am saying is, if I am online at midnight and have everything ready to go can I get registered? Is Wisconsin one of the venues where you have to be onsite the next day? I am stuck between doing IM Arizona '07 and IM Wisconsin '07. I don't want to miss the chance to do an IM event in the next year and think for training purposes that Wisconsin would be better for me to not have to train through the winter months like Arizona would have me doing. I guess I am just stressed about the whole decision now that IMA registration is open, just dont want to miss my chance!
You can sign up online or in person the day after the race. This year registration closed after 7 hours. Check the IM Wisconsin website around race day for registration instructions.
This year, I logged on right when registration opened--it took about 10 minutes for Active.com to process the registration and confirm that I was in.
I registered for '06 onsite the morning after I did IM WI '05. I think the online registration opens an hour or so after the onsite registration opened. I don't think the online registration started until about 9:00 am.
One other recommendation: Do some research on hotels before you plan to sign up, then make reservations for a hotel immediately after you register. You can always cancel if need be, and the hotels close to the transition area fill up superfast. Believe me, its worth paying a little extra to be within walking distance of the start/transition area/finish.
Also, all the hotels in the area actually hand over their rooms to the IM organization, so register through their site.
I registered for IMWI 2006 on-line immediately after registration opened. No problems getting through - It does close quickly - they closed it after 6 hours then opened up a few more slots about 1/2 hour later and it was completely closed out by 7 hours.
Ya, and as stated previously - grab the hotel right away as well.
Good advice on the hotels. I waited about 2 weeks after IM registration and could only get a reservation about 2 miles away from transition--and I still had to pay through the nose for it.
PJT,
As the race approaches keep an eye out for hotels. I made the mistake of waiting to book a hotel for IM WI 2005, and ended up about a mile away (still not bad, but I wasnted to be blocks away). Anyway, about a month or so before the race some rooms opened up at a hotel that was 2 blocks away from the start. Just keep looking, and you might find something close.
