Just signed up for my first 1/2IM
You should be able to pull it off. I strongly urge you to get up to riding 55 miles before July. Take it slowly, but make sure you do the distance atleast once. You will obviously have the running down. Make sure you focus on the swim and bike. That run won't do you any good if you are dead beat before you get to it. Good luck.
You'll be fine, I just did my first one this year. Good luck with the marathon, I think that will give youa good strong base for the 1/2IM, just make sure you take it easy afterwards to fully recover, especially for the run, it'll be a good time to start to build more on the bike and swim. My big advice is practice eating on the longer bike rides, and then at least 15 min of brick work every other weekend with the longer bike rides (even if its a really easy pace).
Racing long distances is a lot about confidence. After this weekend you will have a marathon in your bag of tricks. The anxiety you feel will abate. About Tuesday or Wednesday get out on your bike and spin in your small chain ring. It will help your legs recover from the marathon. Keep on spinning and swimming for a couple of weeks and by mid-May you will feel strong again.
Don't try to come back to the run too soon and then ease in to the run.
If you are doing a marathon you know how to run. Just don't start to your regular running program too soon. Good luck and make sure you enjoy the 26 miles.
I think a little anxiety is good. It keeps you from getting complacent and too confident, and it keeps racing exciting.
I still start getting butterflies days before even sprint races.
Speed hurts; how fast do you want to go?
Thanks for the tips everyone. I think if I move up to 90 or 100k by early-mid June, I'll be ok. The swim isn't too bad since it's not that much longer than an Olympic one (thank god) and I'll get to try out my new wetsuit and see if it makes me any faster.

It ain't much, if it ain't Dutch!!
...and I'm scared.Well, not really scared, but nervous. It's on July 2nd, which is only 2 months away, and I'm going to have to cram in some good training to get this one done. I've never done more than 60k on my bike, so I'm most concerned about that leg.
I've been focusing on training for my first marathon which is this weekend, and haven't been doing much biking or swimming. I did do a lot of good endurance work over the winter months though, and I think that will be what saves me in this one.
I just hope my poor legs can take the strain of 90k on the bike, then the 21k run after that. :(
You doing Vancouver too???
It's always nice to know that I'm not the only one suffering Noel! :D
Yeah, I'm doing the Vancouver marathon. Bluebird said he was doing it too and meeting up with some trifuelers. You going to be there too brittda?
