In the tips on getting your wetsuit on it was commented that getting it off is the hard part... What tips do you have on that part?

Here are my tips on that last little part of removal: getting it over and off your feet:

* Once it is mostly off and on your lower legs, step on the wetsuit with one foot while pulling up with the other. Be careful if you do this on rough ground, as it can damage the material. Of course, never pull so hard you are tearing the suit!
* For getting the last little bit over your heels, slide your fingers in the bottom of the leg, grab, and peel it off.

Oh and here is a tip for you IM folks: Let the strippers help you :) Especially if you come out of the water at a non-busy moment. I mean, they will pull it off for you and hand it to you, giving you a second to catch your breath! If you decide to go this route, make sure you have it peeled to below your rear so that as you are on they ground and they are helping pull it off you aren't sitting on it!

What else do you guys have? I better not be the only one with ideas for speedy wetsuit removal :p

At IM Canada Lisa Bentley had this tip; Apply Vaseline on the fore arms and lower legs of the wetsuit. The contact between the outside will make it come off much faster.

I agree, strippers are the best!

Do you know if vaseline damages the suit at all?

Yeah, vaseline is petroleum based which is said to damage wetsuit material. Lisa Bentley might get free wetsuits so it is not important to her. I have heard people putting Pam on and some other slippery thing but I don't recall what it is. If I remember it I will post it later.

i know that quintana roo 'certifies' bodyglide as an acceptable lube to use for their wetsuits. if wetsuits are all made of the same material then one might try that. of course it could just be a conspiracy between quintana roo and bodyglide

I have an IronMan suit and used BodyGlide (on me and the suit) all last season with no problems...

I have heard the PAM thing as well, but that it also can damage the suits (although no definte word on if it does).

I think anything petroleum based like Vaseline would be bad on the wetsuit.
Ya don’t see as many people using Pam anymore; mostly it is BodyGlide (works good for me).
Another tip, if possible take the wetsuit off right after you come out of the water, just make sure you are not blocking the way of other athletes.
When there is still water in the legs of the wetsuit it comes off much easier
If you run to T1 and then you try and remove the wetsuit, all the water in the legs is gone and makes it harder to remove from the knees down.

Another tip:
Cut the bottom of the wetsuit a bit higher so its not all the way down on your skinny ankles. Go up a few inches; it makes it easier to take off.

Make sure you buy the Garlic Butter pam, I hear that works the best!
