This is my weakest area right now I'm horrible at it. It seems like I use way to much energy trying to bike. I'm using a mountain bike because I'm not sure if i'll like the triathlon. Any easy training plans cause i have know idea how long to ride for or how long.

its on like donkey kong

You wonder why it's so hard?????

Mountain bikes are made for mountains, just look at those big a$$ tires. Riding a mtb bike on the road is not an easy task. It IS a lot harder than a road bike.

What a you normally riding (timewise) right now?
How many days a week do you ride this distance/time?

Answer these and we'll go from there.

glbrum is right about the Mtn bike being much more difficult on the road. I love my mtn bike, yet when I am flying down a hill trying to pick up speed on pavement you can just hear the tires gripping the road and slowing you down. If you have access to a road bike use it, otherwise I just like to go out on rides, I'll keep my rpm's between 90-100 and it seems to work well for me. If you want to spice it up a little bit switch routes to include hills, that always adds an extra lil to your workout. Just remember to keep a nice steady pace, up and down the hills, and on the flats.
