No appetite post-workout
Hate to say it; but that sounds like a pretty bad post-workout meal.
How are you going to refuel your glycogen stores with a protein shake and peas? You need to get some carbs into your system ASAP after training. You're not eating because you're necessarily hungry, you're eating because you need the fuel. A 3 or 4 to 1 ratio of carbs to protein is said to be best.

This happens to me every now and then with no apparent reason at all.
The only thing I have found out is that it generally happens to me after intense workouts.
Hyperactive Trifueler!!!! (I refuse to let the status go :p)
that happened to me last night also, but when i heard the menu (roasted free-range chicken, long grain wild rice, fresh stringbeans) i changed my mind. like hitman said, you gotta refuel after training, hungry or not.
directly after my ride (3hr steady) i drank a pint of chocolate milk and continued hydrating. the milk sometimes robs my appetite but after eating a few bites of dinner the hunger returns and is in turn satiated.

You really need to eat afterwards regardless of if you are hungry or not. Especially carbs. If you don't yur muscles aren't going to recver like they should, thus making your next workouts suffer from sore, stiff or tird legs.
I agree with all that was just said.
glbrum, this morning when I went for a run my legs were dead and I just didnt feel like I had energy at all.
Tikal Dog, I think it was the intensity of the workout that did it. it was the hardest 45 minutes i had done in a while and covered 25km.
thehitman, I know I should refuel but 1) late night eating makes me feel guilty (right, I should get over that), 2) should i just have a shake with some glucose polymers next time or a banana?
Geo, chocolate milk sounds good but i dont store any cocoa powder - should i get some?
thanks, next time ill refuel anyway because my morning run was crap and so that just gives a bad feel to the day.

Yeah. Or put the banana in the shake. And some cocoa, too, if you like the taste. And how about nuking a potato, or maybe a bowl of rice, pasta or black beans --- all quick and easy, and loaded with carbs.

well, I trained late today (530pm). I usually train the other way round at 530am.
anyway,m y workout was a high-intensity ride for an hour. Lots of hill climbs and intervals.
i got home and showered etc but found that i wasnt at all hungry for dinner. anyone else experience this at night? i mean is it normal considering i was probably using all stores from what i had eaten that day.
i just ended up having a protein shake and a cup of cooked green peas. even that has left my gut feeling a bit ill.
i hate eating after 6 too. im usually an early dinner eater - bit like a granny. ha.
what do you do?
