motobecane used to be a really good brand, but the name was bought out by a taiwanese company. now they make bikes that are good bang for the buck but not the highest quality. i have a few friends that have them and they really got a good deal considering what they paid for them.

A friend of mine was interested in buying bikes from this place - bikesdirect.com. Not only have I never heard of them, I've never heard of the bikes they are selling - Mercier and Montobecane.
He wants to buy from there because he says it looks so inexpensive.
Any thoughts/experience with these guys?
