oh you lucky dog.

I swim in a 24 Hr Fitness pool in Glendale California which is as of yet, unconfirmed whether it's a 25yrd or 25meter pool. It isn't kept up very well and the bottom is full of sand, bandaids, and crud. Visibility in the water is about 2 yards before it turns to milk. Sometimes it's too hot, sometimes it's cold.

I swim at Motion Fitness:
http://www.motionfrc.com/main/gateway/gateway.asp?GID=502&CID=203&URL=http%3A%2F%2Flocator%3A80%2FCustomPages%2Fpage%2Easp%3FlocID%3D100451%26cpid%3D1
After talking to a couple people they finally came to the consensus that it is a 25 yd pool. 40 min from home - 10 min from work.
Still looking for a better/closer lake for OW swims.

RV, I've never seen a "current pool" like that before. Do you use it much?

Nope. They do a lot of water areobics in there. Which is nice so they don't take a lane away from the lap swimmers. Sometimes they let the kids float on inner tubes. Hmmm... wonder if I could count that as a lap?

from work i swim at the 24 hour fitness in kearney mesa (san diego) which isnt much cleaner or maintained than yours. and its usually very busy. my backup is a community pool about 1 mile from my house and for $5 bucks it can't be beat. the only downside is that the local high school uses it for events.

I swim indoors at the West Morris YMCA. I think it is supposed to be a 25 meter pool.About 10 minutes away
OW I have a few lakes nearby. They are a little cold right now.About 5-15 minutes away.
I can also go to the NJ Shore and do some ocean swimming too.
That is about 1 1/2 hours away

My "secret" pool. Rarely have to share a lane. Many times I have the pool to myself. Only 250 bucks a year. Can't swim till after 11am though..the only down side. Sometimes I swim in the Potomac River.
Have to be careful where..against the law in this county. Saw a guy last year standing at the parking area in a wet suit...getting harrassed by a guy from the DNR.
Thinking about joining a Masters group that swims at a pool about 5 minutes from here..but thats two and half Bens for three months!

I swim at a local pool/ workout center, the Jewish Community Center, not jewish though, catholic. The local masters group swims there, and during the summer, we move outside to their outdoor pool with. . . . . full 50m distance. Very nice outdoor pool. One more month, May 13th, til it opens!!!!

I swim at the City of Clayton (suburb of St. Louis) recreation center. Its connected to the highschool and shares the competition pool. So, I swim in an 8 lane 25 yard high school swimming pool. Its nice. Water's always at 78 degrees F. I rarely have to save a lane. Its really big with lots of light and skylights. Fantastic. The lifeguards are high school kids who crank classic rock while we swim. I don't know how they can get away with doing that (how can they hear if there is a problem) but I enjoy it.

I swim in the Life Center Pool during the winter and when the weather is bad. The pool is 25 meter and they keep it up nicely. Alot of chemicals though but I guess that is better than not enough. Durining the warmer months I swim out the the lake in Shewnee Forest but have to stay in the swim area (about 50 meter) Sometimes if my hubby is fishing I'll swim out in the middle of the lake. You can do that if you have a boat.

I swim in an Olympic size pool at my work place.

I am still trying to talk my wife into letting me install a lazy river in our backyard, however...She doesn't realize how much she would use it if we had one.

Look online for a YMCA in your area. That would be my first place to look. Usually they have pools and gym facilities that are pretty decent and not too pricey. Even cheaper if you are a student. :D

My local Y - they just renovated their indoor pool and come summer, they have a real nice outdoor pool and the lifeguards always leave a lane up for us.

Normally I swim at one of many 24hr Fitness centers around me. For ocean practices I go to Corona Del Mar beach in Newport, CA. I love swimming.

I swim in the new natatorium at the university where my husband teaches. I will soon start going to the beach on weekends and get practice swimming in the ocean.

I was not encouraged to read about the icky 24 Hour Fitness pools. I will be going to Cali for a week the first week of May. I thought I would get in at least a day of swimming at the 24 Hour Fitness very close to my in-law's house.

When I considered doing a triathlon I was mostly turned off by the swimming. I didn't swim and had a small fear of being underwater. I have been taking swim lessons going on four weeks now. I am confident in myself and feel strong when I swim, and now I like it more than the running and biking. Funny how things turn out.
