How far apart are your aerobars?

Shoulder to shoulder im about 24". Syntace instructions say that you should be placing your aerobars next to the stem. From outside bar to outside bar on my C2 clips are 6 3/4". Is this too wide? How close/far apart are your aerobars? :D

Don't have my bike in front of me at the moment, so can't get a measurement. However, as a part of my FIST bike fitting, he actually seperated my areobars a little bit - making them a little wider. He said they would have been good for a 40K TT, but for a IM distance they should be a little wider to limit stress on the shoulders. I think a general rule of thumb is the shorter the distance the more aggressive the positioning can be.

Like RV said, the closer the bars the more aggresive, but also less comfortable (for some) over longer distances. I' say there is about a 2 -2.5 inch gap between my bars, making it 4-4.5 from outside to outside. That is a very rough estimate because I don't have my bike at my side either. If you think yours are too far apart, move them incrementally closer together over time. Make sure it is gradual though otherwise a drastric change could cause a lot of pain.

I'd say my bars are about 5" apart from center/center
the pads are just outside of either bar..

my shoulders are about 20" (out-out)
