Dude, I feel ya. All except for #1, I'd put that in the "Things I don't like" section.

#13, I love busting out my swim caps at Masters. +1 macho points

A small detail I enjoy is passing a far younger man who has a body sculpted like a Greek god and secretly wanting to tell him that I'm older than his dad.

"3. race tshirts"

My favorite - except when the race neglects to order shirts in appropriate sizes! california 70.3 I was left with a finishers shirt that comes down to my knees! (sorry I just got done ranting in my post-race survey)

The smell of neoprene.

The heart pounding as you grind up a hill out of the seat, labouring, drooling swaying back and forth passing everyone on the bike, then the coast down as the endorphines kick in and you lie on the aerobars and suck up some fluids.

Good: The smell of bakeries opening in the morning when ride / run past... and stopping! :p

Bad: Running down to the swimming pool only to find it closed because of some corporate event

Things I like:
Biking on roads without potholes or stoplights
Biking into town at the end of my morning rides during rush hour - somehow it just gives me a rush to be going faster than the cars
Analyzing race results
Good race photos
Other triathletes
Making training plans

Things I don't like
Swimming in between two big guys who both veer into me
Huge race t-shirts (if they gave out youth large or even regular smalls that would make me happy - as is, i just get quilts made out of them)
The last mile or so of tri's - once I go anaerobic at the end of hard races, my stomach always just rebels - the good stuff makes it worth it to keep going hard, but I don't have to like that part
Cleaning water bottles

That means you need to swim and ride faster so you'll be running with the elites instead of the newbies/rec racers

If you wish to be out front, then act as if you were behind.

Right after the race it is easy to remember the things I don't like, but as time goes by it becomes part of the things I do enjoy. I love the whole thing.
I don't like training or racing alone. I love to yap, so training with someone, or doing an event with someone is fun. I think that is why the bike is difficult for me. I am not allowed to hang out and talk. I even got a penalty for blocking during a 1/2 IM because I was chatting. (nobody around for a mile or so either)
