I am wondering how much gatorade is to much gatorade. Im looking to drop about 20 pounds over the next two months and then I will be maintaining my weight going forward. I use to drink a ton of diet coke (probably like a 2 liter a day) and now have swithed to gatorade. Im stupid though, because i never really looked at the label to see whats in it. I know that it wont matter when im at my target weight, because I will be burning it with my workouts but for now Im wondering how bad this is. I just love the taste of gatorade :)

Dont do that or else you might overload your liver! Gatorade has lots of electrolytes and are recommended only when you do 2 hours + workouts in which you lose a lot of sodium and stuff...

drop the soda....and dont drink alot of gatorade. the gatorade has about as much sugar as a normal coke. i drink alot of water, and ikno that when i start to drink alot of gatorade, i have some acne come back and i jus dont feel the same. what i do is, water throughout the day, at lunch ill drink a 20oz bottle of gatorade, track after school, and either jus water or a gatorade enduance (seems like a placebo, but i dont eat as many bananas as bfore, so ill take the potassium) and then when i get home, i have the powder for carnation instant breakfast and i do that with milk for my protein.

i drink water througout the day, and at night. I seem to find myself drinking a lot of sweet tea. i havent had a soda in who knows how long. its not jus the tablespoons of sugar, but its the cornsyrup. i just did a paper on soda and the cornsyrup in it has so many effect on the body (such as can increase food intake). A lot of drinks are made with corn syrup for the preserative.

all in all, go for the water, and gatorade mab at lunch, but try to find an alternative to the sugar. if u ahve been drinkn that much soda during the day(even diet witht he artificial sweetners) you will go though some sort of withdrawl and you may see an effect in you training, you will get past it.

mab decaffinated iced tea, and you can add your own sugar, but jus watch how much u add and keep track of it.

20 lbs is a good goal, and trifuel has alot of forums about nutrition, and personally i set my female friend up on a training plan and in 4 weeks, she lost 11 lbs and i got her eating right and training

If you get a flat, and don't have a tube, Suck it up and run it in!!!

Drink water as your beverage of choice. Hold off on the Gatorade unless you are going over an hour of exercise. You can also use electrolyte tabs, to supplement. and they are no calories.
Basically don't put in more calories than you use.
Limit your simple sugars and add more complex carbs, lean proteins.

Also do small things to burn calories during the day. Take the stairs intead of the elevator. Park far out in a parking lot and walk in. On your days off take a walk after dinner.
Best of luck :D

Nothing to it, but to do it

It's actually pretty shocking how few calories we burn even when we exercise hard. Sometimes I think I should have burned a ton of calories doing a run but it turns out it's something ridiculously low like "500" - which is ridiculously easy to replenish in a few gulps if you drink sodas.

It's so much harder to burn off cals than taking them in that I'm sticking to water and unsweetened drinks except for right after a workout.

Try green tea- Lipton is good- and add splenda for sweetener. It's good for weight loss and would be a great substitute for those sodas. Also is loaded with antioxidents.
