So.... yesterday Sunday the 19th I did my first duathlon!
Man I don´t know if I liked it or not.

I think that the experience for me was not one of the best because of race organization. The race organization was actually crap!!!!!!

There where people doing less laps than they had to, my wife was forced to run an extra Km by one of the judges. damn!!!

The race started I my first run I had programmed myself to hold backa little cause I didn´t wanted to be too tired for the bike or for the second run. I had on my mind a nother competitor that was just a few meters ahead of me. He got on the bike before me but I could still see him. In the second lap on the bike I catch up with the guy and passed him by. I felt great!!! SO I started to push myself so this guy wouldnt catch me up again.

I finish the bike and was ready for 5 laps of 1Km each. When I finished the first lap I could see the guy coming out from the transition area and into his first lap. So I got happier because I realized it would be difficult for him to catch me. When I was just finishing the 5th lap and going in for the finish line.....what was my surprise when I look at this guy standing with a bottle of water after the finish line!!!!! The "#$%& cut a lap!!!! arghhhh I was so mad. I mean inside me I KNOW I beat the guy but I hate that these races don´t have timing chips with several checking mats so that people can´t do this.

I hope the Tri I have in april the 2nd is better organized than this damn duathlon!!!

Don't let the poor organization and poor sportsmenship of others taint your day. Sounds like you were running your race.
Nothing worse than seeing someone cheating. I can't understand how anyone can do that, but it does happen. Wonder how those clods are able to justify it to themselves. Hope the next race is better organized and officiated.

I get what you mean! I see this guy everyday in the gym! I wonder if he actually thinks he was better than me.

I also CAN´T understand people that cheat in races. It´s soooo stupid!! I mean......they will always know they never actually ended the race.

I am happy with my performance and I know eventually I will stand again besides this guy in a point to point race and beat the hell aout of this cheater!!! Lap races are aesier to organize I think but are difficult to control with out electronic control systems.

That's terrible...How does cheating really help you? I mean...you artificially better your time. Someone will ask that guy what his best 5k times are and not only will he be a cheater but now a liar too. I wouldn't be able to deal with myself. Good job overcomming the disorganization and the cheaters...you win all around.

You have to feel sorry for people who cheat like that - I mean how bad do you have to feel about yourself to cheat to better your time - for what possible reason?! Anyway, you should be proud of your accomplishment no matter what. Not only did you complete the race, you showed good sportsmanship and character when other people took the easier road.

Don't give up, I'm sure other races you do will be better organized and you'll have a better experience.

Happy training - Ant

Not a fan of cheaters, but there is also the chance that he just got caught up in things and lost count...

Besides, like has been said, you only cheat yourself.
