I got my Cervelo Soloist last year, end of season, so I left it in road setup for the winter. Last week, I turned the seat around, to convert it to tri angle, and added my Carbon Strykes.

The seat is visibly angled down and when I rode last weekend, I found myself sliding forward. How do I measure the correct seat angle?

When I look at pictures of the Soloist on the Cervelo website, the seats definitely do not look as angled down as mine does.

Any help would be great! Brian

You generally want the saddle as level as possible. I imagine you clamp is adjustable, though I dont know exactly how with the cervelo seat post. The two main methods are a hex bolt on the side you can loosen and adjust angle and fore/aft position, the other is a small vertical hex screw under the saddle that you screw in/ screw out to adjust pitch. You def. want level to MAYBE 5 degree down pitch.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

I wave the Cervelo P2 SL and I was thinking about changing mine as well. What are the benefits? Is it supposed to be for more flats or hills?
I think when you switch it around you have to move the top clamp thing around too. I'll check mine out. :D

My bike shop showed me how..and yes, you do turn the top clamp completely around. I didn't adjust the center screw after turning clamp 180deg, so the angle is clearly too steep.

Honestly, I only did it because I was told that was a huge benefit of the Cervelo. Since I can only affort one expensive bike, I wanted flexibility between road and tri geometry.

I would have thought that the Cervelo website would show how to make the switch and explain the benefits, but they don't.

I plan to level my saddle tonight and test the feel tomorrow morn on a 40 miler.

Is it a visible change?
I think it was set for road when I got the bike.
How can you tell? Nothing on the Cervelo website

The road setup has the curved part of the clamp facing front....hope that makes sense.

Did you get a manual with your P2 SL? I didn't with my bike. The Cerv website only has manuals to download showing how to take the wheels off....big deal!!

Okay...I got some answers by calling my local All3Sports.com retail store (770-587-9994). They told me that I want the seat level to the ground, just as it was when I had the clamp in road position. I need to use the center floating screw to level the seat and then I will be ready to go. The benefit of turning the clamp around is that you can move the seat farther forward. That makes sense!

I think they only include manuals with the bike if you are a woman.
We men are too silly to look at a manual unlees we are desperate.
I'll try it out this weekend. It look like a great weekend to get cycling!! :D
