Hi all - I was in Madison the last 2 weekends and was able to drive the bike course. I have pretty complete descriptions at my blog:

http://becomingironman.blogspot.com/2006/03/imwi-bike-course-recon.html

For those of you doing IMWI but aren't in the Madison area, or won't have a lot of opportunities to train there, this might be useful. I shot video as well, but it's about 20 minutes long and 800MB to upload, which is a bit impractical, and I'm not really sure how useful it is anyway. But, let me know if you'd really like to see it, or at least photos, and I'll see what I can do.

I'd also love to hear from any IMWI veterans with familiarity of the course on where the course presents the most difficulties or challenges, or what to watch out for. It'll be May before I get a chance to get back and do any on-course training.

Hope it helps - get out there and ride some hills!

Thanks for the really great discription of the course. I am so not good at climbing, decents and turns - I have so much work to do... at least now I know what to work on!

Nice description. I did ride the Verona loop last year. Really looking forward to getting out there and getting in several test rides. I could recall sections of it from your descriptions. It is a fun course. :)

Great description and exactly what I had heard from folks who did IM WI this year... very hilly. I'm worried I'll be burning my brakes before the 2nd loop!
