my first multi sport
Awesome job! Glad to see another person hooked. Are you planing to stick with duos or are you thinking of trying some tris as well?
Bricks (bike/run combos) are a great training day to help your legs be ready to run off the bike.

Oh I am planning on Tri's this year too. I think my first one is going to be April 1st. I have also been doing straight up bike rides and 5k/10k events too. Those are my motivation to workout druning the week.
I need to get some more hangers for all the shirts I'm getting
Good Job--if you had a hard time with tying your shoes I would suggest the quick laces...makes it much easier
Oh, I can see you having this as an addiction. Well done and welcome to the club!

I did my first ever multi sport event this Sunday. It was a Duathlon held in Seguin TX. 5k run, 14 mile bike, 5k run. The weather was perfect for the entire event. About 82 with a little cloud cover, and little humidity (but not bad). I just started training for endurance about 2 months ago so I am not gunning for top age group finishes or any thing yet. I just want to finish.
first 5k went really well, I was feeling great. Got into the transistion and made pretty good time, just a minute or so getting everything on. Running in bike shoes sucks
Bike ride went OK. There was a stiff headwind at first though. About 5 miles in I noticed that I was working pretty hard for the speed I was getting. So I stopped and looked at my back brake pad, it was rubbing. Tweaked that real quick and back off. Finished the ride strong. The transistion wasnt as good as the first, I had alittle trouble tying my shoes.
Then the fun started. I started running, I couldn't feel my legs going under me but I felt the hurt. I was walking and running trying to get myself back. The 5k was a loop (about 1.5m each). I almost talked my self into quitting at the end of the first lap. It would have been so easy, my truck was right there, I could see it. Just get in and go home. But I got the better of my brain and turned the corner to do the second lap. And all of a sudden I was back. I could feel my legs, my breathing/HR slowed down and I ran the last lap. Ended up finishing in 2hours, 14 seconds which met my goal of 2 hrs. So anyway that is my story. I have never felt worse (well maybe a couple times) but when I finished that all went away. I can't wait until the next one :)
Well back to work.
