Waist Hydration Packs
Any reason you are hauling that much fluid?
I personally dont like packs when running. Most hip packs bounce entirely too much, as do backpacks. My buddy has one of the newer single bottle holsters that strap around your waist and he likes it. I think it was north face or something, holds the bottle at an angle. Theres quite a few brands like that.
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
Take a look at Fuel Belts. They come anywhere from two to 8 small 7oz bottles.
They don't bounce, allow for multiple fluids to be carried and some belts have a gel flask holder as well.
I use the 3 bottle revenge with the gel flaskholder.
fuel belts are the way to go I use one that has 4 bottles. I used to have a one bottle carrier but way to much bouncing. I love the fuel belt I would never trade it for any other!!

Over the years I've had the chance to experiment with everything. I mean that. From hand held to hydration vests. Bottle carriers around the waist bounce way too much, with one exception, The type that Triguy mentioned...Bottle is held at an angle. North Face makes one as does Ultimate Direction. Thats the kind I use...They also make a belt called the Thunderbolt that is like a fuel belt but has larger bottles.
Why are you hauling that much fluid....If you are running under an hour there should be no need to...heck under ten miles alot of runners don't carry anything.
I use mine for long unsupported trail runs. If I need the full 40 ounces I carry one hand held and one on the belt...when the hand held is empty....I switch.
I've tried fuel belt and don't think it's that hot...Have been to a number of races,HIM and up,and you see em tossed away at aid stations or left in the porta johns.

Camelbak makes a fanny pack style hydration pack. I use it for long runs and cross country skate skiing because it doesn't bind with the arm swing. It has a 45 oz bladder. Along with the regular waist belt, it has smaller compression straps on either side that can be easily accessed to tighten down the pack as you go. That really seems to minimize the bouncing. I've put a clip on the tube so that I can get to the water without having to reach far for it. My only complaint is that I'd like it to have more storage space to carry my stuff.
thanks for the info
i ask bc ive started to do trail runs but also for my long runs (2+ hrs)
why do a long run and wait an hour to get water, and when i do get water i have to run off course to a store, go inside, fish out my money, and pay - wasting time
it seems that carrying a bottle is a much more efficient method of hydrating
in a tri i get water at least once a mile.
in a training run, after an hour or two i want water every mile - like john wooden said, "games are an extension of practice" - make your training runs as similar to race runs as possible.
I have one of the water bottle carriers that goes around the waist and it does bounce a bit, particularly at the start of a run when the bottle is full. It also has pockets so I can carry keys and a gel or two for the longer runs. I generally only use it when I am running over 10 miles or when it is the height of summer. It isn't any fancy brand just one that I found in Target last spring, it does the trick though. I don't use it for races as you can get fluids pretty much every mile or so.

I have the bottle around the waiste thing. It bounces if i dont cinch it down, otherwise its fine. I thought about the belt with the 4 bottles, but that is the same amount of liquid and would take more effort /time I would think on a long run (which is why I have not gotten one) The trail I do my long runs on has water opportunities for refils, so I only need one bottle
Have you looked into the plastic helmet with two water bottle holders on either side? I hear they work great!
Honestly, I use and like a fuel belt for my longer runs. I bought one that only has two water flasks and wish I would have gotten one that had four water bottles. I will also sometimes skip the fuel belt and carry a water bottle (they sell them with a strap that goes around the back of your hand). I like that a lot, but I know a lot of people don't like to carry a water bottle while running. If you are thinking of going that route, I would suggest doing a short run while carrying a water bottle before you dish out the cash for one with the strap and pouch. You may find that you do not like it.
