I'm stuck. I'm torn between two bikes. I am making my first tri bike purchase in the next week but can't decide which bike is a better deal. The first bike is the 2006 Cervelo Dual with Dura Ace shifters and derailleurs, Ultegra chain and cassette, FSA Gossamer MegaExo cranks, and Velo Max vista wheels. Cost is $1900.

The second bike is a 2004 Guru CronAlu leftover. It comes with full Ultegra Components, and Ritchey Pro DS wheels. Cost is $2100.

Can anyone tell me what the better deal is? Both bikes pretty much ride the same to me. I think the Guru is a much better frame, but is it worth the extra $200 bucks without the Dura Ace Components? I also heard that the Dual frame is made in Taiwan. Is this True?

Get whichever one fits better. Bottom line. If it fits than, yes, $200 is worth it. If it didn't fit, no amount of money would make it worth it. As far as Dura Ace vs. Ultegra....Dura Ace is lighter and probably shifts a little smoother, but unless you've spent significant time on ultegra, you wouldn't notice the difference. I'm using a bike with ultegra and I can feel the diff. from my 105's, which is nice, but I'm still just as fast on my 105's. Dual made in tawian???? probably, I don't know for sure.

After sitting on the computer for about 3 hours trying to find any info on both bikes that might help me with my decision I came across Greenwich Bicycles in Greenwich, CT. On the site they had a 2005 Guru Cron'Alu on sale for 1699.00. The next morning I called to find out if they sold it yet. A few hours later after getting fit I was the proud owner of a new Cron'Alu.

Good one :)
I'm also a proud owner of a Guru Cron'alu 2005, and every single time that I get on it, I keep telling myself that's a superb bike.

AWOR31 & Montreal doug -
I have heard INCREDIBLE things about the cron-alu..

After you've put 500 miles on it.. give us an update.. let us know about how stiff, agile, fast it is and whether you'll get another one..

I think it was also under review by triathlete (or was it Inside Triathlon?) last year... they loved it

I've already put more than 500 miles on it now... and I keep telling myself thats a superb bike :D

Just bought a Zipp disc with a front Corima carbon... its simply amazing!!!

The cronalu was custom made and custom paint, at no extra charge! Can't beat that. Would I buy another one right away if I had to? That's for sure.
