rules for triathlons for under 18
It's on a race by race basis.
Most Iron-distance tris, like marathons, say you must be 18 years or older on race day. I think half IM races are the same.
Many shorter races (sprints, and I think olympics, although I'm not positive) actually have age brackets for younger racers.
I hadn't heard anything like that. Most of the tris I do have age groups for those under 18. Some have special shorter versions for 12-13 and under. Ironman, however, may have an age requirement being 18 to participate.
I think 1/2 IM and IM are 18 but shorter distance is subject to the race director discretion. Some of that might be an insurance issue.
The USAT might have some more info

Nothing to it, but to do it
I think I did 4 tri's before I was 18... 3 sprints one oly and my sister and her friend did the chicago tri at 16. 15 should be fine for anything except 1/2 IM and IM. Just race where you can and have fun!
Kevin ~ I grew up in the Cmh area (Westerville) and am coming back this summer to do a tri run by Fat Rabbit Racing. Check out their website...looks like a lot of their events either allow teenagers, or have separate divisions for young age-groupers. Good luck!

I did the Vineman Half when I was 17, I just had to have a parent or legal guardian sign my paper form
jus check out individual race sites. also, for the Junior national team you have to be in the junior category and all that informtion is on the usat site
If you get a flat, and don't have a tube, Suck it up and run it in!!!
