Scheduling
You can do sprints and olys fairly often...they are not the ass kickers that the longer races can be.
Is one of them an "A" race or do you plan to race them both equally hard?
Are you will to take a little down time after race one to help you recoup for race two?
As I have often said, you never know till you try (No pun intended.)

The second one would be my A race. Maybe what I will do is do a sprint distance for the first one.

If you think of it as,
2 under a mile swims done a month apart,
2 25 mile bikes done a month apart,
2 10k runs done a month apart,
It really is not that much if you are training anyway.
You probably need only a couple of days recovery before you can get back to training and you only need a couple of days taper for number 2.
Joe Bonness who is around 50 did 3 Iron Distance races in 21 days.
The Great Floridian, which he was the overall winner,
Kona, and I think he did well in his age group,
Ironman Florida, and he won his age group there.
all 3 he did under 10 hours.
I guess he knows because he tried.

That's a good idea, using the sprint as a shakedown for the Oly. If you decide to do both however,I think you may be ok...as long as your first race is run easy to moderate.
Best of luck and let us know how it goes!

Naw, no problem. You can do 2 - 3 Sprints and/or Olys in a month with out much difficulty. Go for it. As said earlier - use the first one as a prep race and the other as your A race.

I would do the two Olys, assuming your training is up to par. Just use the first one as a refresher and race the second one. I know my first race of the season is always a little off. If Olys are your focus this year, start of with the two.
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
I've found that for me three weeks apart for sprints/oly's is perfect. There's enough time to recover and doing a lot of races keeps me motivated, I'm my most motivated the week or two after a race (which I realize is backward, but that's the way I am). I'd probably take a few days after each of them easier, at least until you know how your body reacts.
The earlier oly will be a good confidence builder for the second Oly, which you say is your "A" race. You'll be a lot more psychologically prepared coming to your A race with the experience of an oly so fresh in memory.
You have more than sufficient recovery time between the races so I'd say keep up the training and do the two races and taper appropriately before the 2nd Oly so you're periodized properly.

I am thinking of scheduling two olympic tris; one on April 30 and one on May 21. Do you guys think 3 weeks is too close and not enough recovery. I have never done more than one in the same month.
