Pill/power supplements for what???
There are a hundred different supplements/pills for every thing you can think of.
What are you specifically looking for? I use several herbal supplements/vitamins to aid my nutrition and may have some suggestions...

Well Im basically looking for something to aid my tri training....I will hopefully be ready to compete in my first half IM in september. I was basically just wanting to know what everyone took....basic overall info. I am currently not taking anything so I thought I would look into it and see if you guys think that it can really help.
Well, I wouldn't encourage taking supplements just for the sake of taking them. I have worked with a certified herbalist/nurse to figure out what my body lacks (what I don't get from my diet).
I prefer Nature's Sunshine brand of products for my herbs. They are well made and very effective.
This is what I take/why:
Source of Life Multi-vitamin
Barlean's Greens (green foods for extra energy/supplement diet)
Nutri-calm (Nature's Sunshine B-Complex for stress)
Vitamin C (overall anti-oxidant)
Vit E (aids in tissue recovery)
Other than that, I also use Soytein protein powder for meal supplementation. I try to limit my use of this and eat real food, but it's nice to get in a little extra protein after a workout.
The other thing I supplement with during long workouts of 3 hours or more (aside from sports drink, gels or bars) is electrolyte tablets. These have been very helpful me, as I sweat a lot and live in Texas where it is often hot and humid.
I would evaluate your goals, your nutrition and why you feel like you want/need supplements. No pill is going to make you faster or stronger. And if your body doesn't need what you are taking you are likely doing more harm than good and/or peeing it out.
I am not trying to tell you what to do/take, rather just encourage you to think through it. Supplements can be very expensive, and if you eat a healthy diet, chances are you don't need to take much more than a multi-vitamin.
Race-day nutrition is a whole other topic, however, but again is unique to you, your expenditure and replenishment needs. There are many threads on this forum discussing specific training/racing nutrition that might be helpful.
Good luck!

Thats exactly what I was looking for...Thanks!
As a general info my friend, these are the things I take:
-Protein Powder, for meal supplementation, particulary for post workout shakes/meals. The brand, depends, I tend to switch from time to time...I prefer Whey protein, but also I used Soy. I try to be very careful with the dosage of the powder since I don´t want to gain too much weight.....just enough to help my body repair itself after each workout.
-Multivitamins: Most of the time are Stress Tabs plus Zinc, to boost my inmune system.
-For trainning I used gels...Power Gel is the one I like, cause its consistency and flavors, and Gatorade..that´s all.
As Trigirl wrote, I do agree that is much more important to watch your diet, in matters of carbs, protein, fats ratio. With a careful diet program you will be just fine. My advice as a doctor, since you are still a young man, I recomend you to go a have a visit with a dietitian/nutritionist, cause your body is still under development, so would be very very important to have a good advice from a profecional.
Best of luck with your trainning!

Supplement your training diet with good food and a sound training plan to achieve your goal. After a healthy dose of the above, train some more, have good equipment and a good attitude.
The edge you get from supplements, chemical or herbal, is no substitute for a well executed training plan and a zest for what you are doing.
The money spent on supplements would be far better used to buy good equipment and race entry fees.
Good results don't come out of a bottle.

Hey guys....I was just wanting to get some basic info on what good pill/powder supplements are out there and which ones work best. Thanks!
