Hello @ all,

you probably heard this question 8000000 Millliooonnnn times but I cannot decide what to wear. Well, I need something for the upcoming sprint in May in San Antonio. Thus, it will be warm if not hot hot hot. However, I do not want to go through the trouble of changing in the T-areas. A friend of mine (pro triathlete) told me that she doesn't change out of her bathing suit at all and rides bike and runs with it. Now my question: don't you need padding in certain areas??? or is padding not necessary for sprints??? could the bathing suit "shift"when e.g riding the bike? (some are cut so high at the hips that I ask myself if they stay where they are supposed to be). What do you think of trisuits (TYR trisuit???), good idea or bad idea??? Please help!!!

Oh and I appologize in advance for every language mistake I make here. English is not my mother tongue. So please forgive me :) .

Can't wait for answers!
Barbara

Ciao Luna-

Welcome to the site! To answer your question, yes there are threads on this topic, just search the newbie forum. For sprints, I just wore tri shorts - they have a chamois instead of a big pad - better for the swim and a sports bra, dark color, on top. I use a race belt for my number so I can throw on a tank top for the bike and take it off again for the run.

Hope this helps - Ant :)

I go with a low rise bikini because I have a long torso :D

Actually, you can go with trishorts with a lighter, thinner chammy built in or you can get a one piece suit that look like a normal bathing suit but has a chammy built it.

It is up to what you feel comfortable with.
Good luck :D

Nothing to it, but to do it

I use a Zoot one piece trisuit. It has a smaller chammy than regular bike shorts, so it feels fine swimming and running. It's also the only one I've found with a built in bra so you don't have to wear a sports bra under it.

I use a pair of tri shorts (with the thinner bike padding as mentioned above), a sports bra, and a tank top I'll throw on for the bike and run. A lot will be personal preference. Try training in a few things and see what you find comfortable. If you find what you think you like, you might even want to try getting it wet and then biking and running in it. I find it's better to know before hand where you need extra bodyglide (stuff to prevent chaffing).

Beads I thought you usually wore a red thong, when did you change?

I'm in love with TYR one piece suits. Sports bra underneath and all you have to mess with in the transition is shoes.

I wear a swim suit for the entire sprint distance. I didn't experience any chaffing but I usually put some body glide along the bikini line. I didn't notice it climbing where it shouldn't be during the bike or run. I use a number belt so I just have to clip that on and go. I will probably invest in a tri suit when I invest in a wetsuit.....which hopefully will be soon. I also go sockless during the race to save time. It's really personal preference and what your goals are.

Thank you for all the information and advice. I decided to try out. I get a trisuit for "cooler" days and something shorter for the hoooott days. But thank you again!!!

See you!

If you are flat/Small/A-cup cutie, I would strongly recommend the Orca speedsuit one piece.

And compared with a regular swimsuit, I'd wager you will feel a bit faster in the water with this thing.

I highly recommend the Pearl Izumis I wear (they come in bothe male and female versions) but as a warning to the guys.. they tend to accent the package a bit... hence the reason I wear em! :D If your package is inadequate, you may not fill them out enough, forcing the suit to become less hydrodynamic.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

My wife wears a TYR swim top (like a sports bra swimsuit top) and the TYR tri bottoms (like full cut bathingsuit bottoms but they have a tri-pad built in)

she likes it for sprint distances.. (the typical sports bra doesn't dry after the swim and so it tends to chafe on the run... )
