NYC Marathon

Do NOT go to newyorkmarathon.com
There are a few ways that you can do it.
a. Be fast. If you can run a 2:55 full or a 1:23 half.
b. Join the club. If you live in the NY area, the most fun way to qualify is to join the New York Road Runners club. You then have to complete 9 qualifying events in a given year to obtain guaranteed entry in the following year. This is how I qualified in 2004.
c. Lottery. Since your metro is Dallas, it is probably safe to presume that running 9 races is not a viable option for you. I believe the lottery is open from March 1 to April 30. Note that persistence pays off here. If you are unsuccessful in the lottery for three consecutive years, you will automatically qualify in the fourth year.
Good luck getting in. I've done it twice so far. In 2003 (lottery) and 2004 (nyrr 9 races). It was the most awesome event I ever participated in. Go for it!!!

If not this year i will get in next year.

Scott,
Let me know if you plan to do any NYRR races in the near future. We could meet up in there.
Cheers,
Al

Beads-
I can't believe they still do the 5 borough bike tour. I've done it 3 or 4 times - about 20+ year ago  It used to benefit a group for youth hostels - who sponsors it now? I'm gonna google it and try and find the link - I just may have to visit the fam that weekend :D

For you lucky ones who signed up for NYC, you should know that a certain retired pro cyclist will be in the field running his first marathon: http://sports.espn.go.com/oly/news/story?id=2414546
Can a return to triathlons be far behind?
Sweet!!
I am in the lottery right now. It would be cool if I get in. :D
