Road ID's?
We have Road ID on all of our running shoes. I have not found another company, but then again I haven't looked.
You can also get arm bands that hold your ID (drivers license etc).

Having some ID is pretty darn important. I made a photo copy of my insurance card wrote a few numbers on it. I have an old sunglasses pouch where I keep a few patches, a small multi tool, tire wrench, and that card. I won't ride without that bag so I figure I will always have identification.

I only carry as ID my dog tag...I have personal info there, my blood type, and couple of phone numbers in case of a need....

Thanks to my mom this valentine's day I now have a RoadID. I have the basic velcro one, and actually have been keeping it on the armband I got for my shuffle. It has my cell number, my mom's number, and my best friend/roommate's number.
After a crash where a friend kept my phone to get in touch with people for me, and not being able to remember any numbers, I think it's important to have. Luckily I did have ID with me, but my driver's license has an old address, and my name is long so hard to read.
Oh, and I asked around about these on some forum at some point, and heard that emergency personnel are being taught to look for them.
Only thing missing on mine is that my pupils are different sizes... important info since it made them want to drill a hole in my skull ;)

Different size pupils huh? Sounds interesting. You should send a close up pic of that. I guess with the flash off. :)

My wife got me a Road Id this past Christmas - got it with the velcro strap so I can use it for open water swims, bike and run. Just like wearing a timing chip.

haha... yeah, well... it's not always too obvious... but can be a sign of Bad Things. It got me a helicopter ride before. Although once I had a concussion and it made them normal... so my mom says I'm only normal when I'm f#$@ed up.

I use a little velcro one on my shoes and also keep an insurance card in my seat wedge when biking. Now that I think about it, it might be worthwhile include blood type info as well.

I usually carry my licence and my cell phone when I am out.
Some people after they meet me want to drill a hole in my skull, and I have no differences in my pupils!!

I think f#$@ed up is normal for me :D
I work in an ER. I would suggest anything over dog tags. If you have something with a picture of yourself on it, that would be the best. We just can't trust dog tags as ID info. I haven't seen the Road ID on anyone yet, but I think we'd be more likely to trust that.
I always tuck my drivers license, insurance card, a piece of paper with emergency numbers and a few dollars in a ziploc and stick it somewhere on my person when I'm out training alone.
My wife and I received ROAD ID's for christmas, and purchased ROAD ID's for my brother and his wife for christmas.... we all got the wrist "bracelet". When I ordered theirs, I put their blood type on it...

The tri club I belong to has ID's with all of our emergency information and contact #s so I keep that in my pocket when out for runs and rides.
Bought my girlfriend and I RoadID for Christmas...Names,Phone numbers,Blood type and worth every penny. Beats dental records!

I've heard of a similar product called "ID on me" I'll try to find a link to a site that either sells it or has a picture. Good luck.

I keep my old expired drivers license in my bike pouch.
Maybe we should find a tatoo shop, and do a g"TRIFUEL" tatooing of our name, social, blood type, and medical problems! ;p

I keep an old drivers license in my bike pack complete with organ donor sticker. I like the idea of the Road ID. Gotta get one.
just make your own by printing the info out on your inkjet or even writing the stuff down on a piece of paper, stick on a photo if you want to, then laminate it at your nearest copy center. It costs very little.
There are definitely cheaper ways to have ID/numbers/info with you. Part of what I like about roadID is that people (ie emergency people) are learning that it's something to look for. When I crashed, I had my driver's license with me (with an old address on the front, and the correct one on the back. They still got my address and name wrong. And I couldn't remember phone numbers, and the guy who I had been riding with kept my phone to get in touch with my family. I would have loved to have had a few numbers on me that day. And when I run, I'm nervous now. I often carry a phone and emergency numbers just in case. Having them on a metal thing that is just always there when I run is convenient.

I agree. I sometimes wonder if help would find my ID if needed. I have a feeling they would probably end up finding my cel phone first (if it was still working) and call 'brother' or 'parents'

yeah... the guy with me called "mom" and "home" which was tough on my mom, as she lives far enough away that she couldn't come down and be with me or make sure I was really ok.

What is a good website to find road id's on. I've been wanting to get something so that when I run or cycle by myself I'll have something on me that if something happens they'll be able to call my husband or parents.
thanks,

From what I understand, most EMTs are being trained to look for "ICE" (stands for In Case of Emergency) on the cell phones. I'm sure that there is an EMT that can lend some insight to this though. I just saw it on TV a while back.
I heard about ICE in an email forward (about 2 weeks after I crashed). I had some numbers in like that, but it does bad things to my phone -- since it then has numbers in 2 places, it doesn't know who to show as calling if the number calls, and so it just shows the number and no name. I got rid of the ICE with numbers, and replaced it with a note that said who to call.

I have a Road ID dog tag that I wear when I'm running or riding. I consider it my lucky charm. My mom likes that I wear it and she asked me to buy one for my grandfather for when he goes walking. I know it makes her more comfortable that if anything happens someone will contact her. But I also carry my phone and an info card w/insurance, etc. when I'm on my bike.

as an EMT, i've never heard of ICE, and locally, I doubt anyone would know what it means here in SA. in a trauma situation though, we'd likely go by anything we could find to name a patient and get hold of family. this is the first i've heard of roadid, so i'm going to check that out.
i personally have an expired drivers license with my husband's name and numbers on the back (our license includes donor status, but i need to add blood type). then i punched a hole in it and attached it to my car key, which is fastened to my handlebars when i ride. kind of a cheesy set up, but i can't imagine being hurt and no one knowing how to get hold of my hubby. plus, the id is very visible and not stashed in a pocket or my seat bag.
cheers.

Does anyone reguarly use a Road ID/emergency ID of some sort when they are out training? Other than RoadID.com, are there other companies or brands that you'd recommend - not that there's anything wrong with RoadID.com, just want to comparison shop.
It's occurred to me that my husband and I are doing more and more of our training apart, and other than the dogs' tags, we typically don't have any identification on us when we're running or even cycling.
thanks!
