I usually use Speedo earplugs which are made of rubber/silicone - not the moldable type. They feel harder inside my ears than they used to. Do they get harder with use? They're about 4 months old.

Mine don't feel stiffer, but I notice that my ears get tender if I have a hard week where I swim every day or so. But I don't use swim specific plugs. Just cheapy blue rubber ones.

I think you're right - I believe i's my ears that are getting tender and sensitive from swimming more.

I may try the moldable kind that don't go into the ear canal.

When we used to store our rubber googgles, swim caps and ear plugs we used too store them overnite in the freezer. Next day they would be as good as new.
