Anyone use shims on their shoes?

Does anyone here use those cleat shims to angle their bike shoes to compensate for bad biomechanics?

I've got one in for my right leg now, but my leg is pretty messed up and I think I might need another one. Unfortunately, I've heard that messing with your leg's proper motion may not be the best thing in the world for it.

Do others here use these things without problems? If so, how many per shoe?

Would you happen to have a pic of one of those. I would like to have a look. I don't know the name in German. Thanks

I just had a FIST bike fit and as a part of that he added one shim to my right cleat. It did make a difference with getting everything in line. I need to see how it feels on a long ride, but on the several one hour rides that I've done since, it is working out well.

Yes, they can add shims. Find someone knowledgeable at your LBS and have them watch you pedal...if they know what they are doing they will know how to help you. (if they seem a little unsure, they are NOT knowledgeable...gracefully ask for someone with a bit more experience)

I use a shim on my right shoe because my right leg is almost half an inch shorter than my left. I had to experiment until I found somthing that worked. With the help of a LBS I found some shims that worked...It may take time to get yours tweeked.
Without it I suffer some recurrent hip pain of the left. With it...no chain!

I'm having some annoying pain in my butt due to my annoying leg. I'm trying to tell if it's due to the fact that my body is just getting used to the range of motion that the shoes/clips put my leg in, or if it's actually something that I'll need more shims to correct.
