rest/injury
As someone that is currently injured: patellar tendonitis (not fun), I can totally empathize with where you are coming from. I'm not sure exactly how long you've been training hard, or if you already have this incorporated into your training. I've read/heard that you should reduce (33%-50% I can't remember exactly how much) your volume every 4th week. If you haven't done this, doing this might be all you need to get back ready to train hard again for another 3 week period. If that doesn't work I would look at what is making your knee and ankle hurt, my guess would be that it's mostly running and to a lesser extent biking. If this is the case you could reduce the amount your running (or eliminate) the running for a week or so and see if you notice an improvement. If it doesn't start getting better don't wait too long to see someone about your injuries, better to treat them early (and more quickly) than to wait and have to recover a lot longer (this happened to me). Hope this helps, let us know what you decide and if you get better.
If you do each sport only twice a week but with some intensity for 1-2 weeks, you will not lose fitness. This is the science behind tapering!
If you are feeling stale, tired, sick and achy, your body is telling you it needs rest. Reduce everything for a week, get TONS of sleep, eat PERFECTLY and I bet you will start feeling better. Put your feet up and watch the Olympics!
As I just woke up from a nap I will try this suedo taper. I think that's all I need. I think I'm just spreading myself too thin. I'm playing soccer and rock climbing a couple times a week. I think I'll have to cut those out or limit them to make sure I don't get burned out. I like the soccer because it keeps me doing something competative.
My friend you need to get some rest....
As Kona said....sleep....A LOT!!!! that really recharges your machinery....
Eat well....balanced, and take plenty of fluids...
Supplement your diet with some vitamins, some zinc....those thing will help to boost your inmune system....
A couple of weeks and you´ll come back stronger...
Buena Suerte!!!

This has been a tough week for me. I've been training hard for a while now and I think I'm starting to feel the effects. I'm getting sick, slight pain in my knee and ankle. I think I should take time off to let my body recoop, but I don't want to sabatauge myself. I also don't want to lose my base as I am to start my next phase. Advice anyone? motivation? thanks fuelers!!
