So you added a Sport and make sure it's not accidently marked "inactive", then you clicked on sport entry (http://www.trifuel.com/log/entry_sport.php) and it says you can't because because you don't have any sports added?
It's working fine for me. The UI is not very intuitive, if you'd like help with that I'd be more than happy to help.
thx - Chris

Weird, I looked at the database for the sports and your log and it looks fine, I can't find anything that looks different from others. I'll have to have Roger take a look and see if I'm missing something. Sorry about this.
I started setting it up and I had connectivity problems.
I will work on it some more when it slows down later today. :D
Nothing to it, but to do it
no worries tribro..i am just excited to starting logging here

Just made some minor updates to log. Now the 7 day summary is 30 days. Let me know if that's preferrable. Also some other additions to allow for yearly plotting in the future.
Also please share any comments you have. Or how you're using it. I just setup a goal for "X" number of bike miles by Ironman Canda, it's cool, shows me the start dae, end date, days left to complete, how many miles I have left to do and % complete. nice little feature.
I've used it to log in a few workouts and it seems to work pretty well for me. Great tool to have here on the site.
TriBro,
I think it is a great site and I just logged in on it. I got all my sports and even a catagory for Freya walk/run stuff. I had only one prob. It would not take my birthday...Gosh maybe I'm to old to do this  . How do I fix this ? Thanks alot
Chris in OH
I had the same issue. It's an open bug we're trying to track down. It works fine for some dates but other's it doesn't. Mine was 1969-11-01 and it defaulted to 1969-12-31. The year still worked o.k. so gave me my zones but the month didn't take so have to figure out why. Did your's not take at all, or do as mine did and change the month/day? If so what month/day did you try to insert, maybe that'll help narrow down the problem. thanks.
The log defaulted to 1969-12-31 and I was trying to enter
1961-02-28... ??
Thank you for the help. Other than that I have not had a problem and I really like it.

Tribro...it's awesome. I like to track my workouts, I'm usually pretty good about it but this is going to make it even easier. Awesome!!
What are "keyword entry" and "bulk data entry used" for?
i used the bulk upload for a wieght chart that i was keepin in a excel spreadsheet.
which answers your first question. i keep my weight as a keyword as well. That way i can track it. the example they use is when you changed running shoes so you know how long it was.
Ya, that's pretty much it. Keywords are used for anything you want to track that isn't under the sport. So like rb85cj7 I track weight as a keyword and then do a weight entry each week. Then I can go back in 6 months and graph weight fluxuation. Also tracking future scheduled dates and some other items. I'm going to try and use it for nutrition as well. So I have a keyword "nutrition" and I'll just put in total calories in the keyword value space and write in what I ate in the remarks. That's pretty much the idea.
More details on other things you can do with keywords:

Also, I should get to a birthday fix tomorrow that Roger sent over.
Glad you guys are using it and liking the functionality. All rcortesi!!!
I just uploaded some new files which should fix the birthday issue. It worked for me. Let me know if there are any additional issues with that function. I guess it was limited to those born before 1969...
I had to reneter my profile data - and it seems fine now - b-day and all - However, it does not want to save it as Male. Whenever I go back into my profile it is reset to Female. Now if I shaved my legs I might understand the confusion! :D

Ha, ya that's one other outstanding issue. It'll keep you as a male in the database unless you go back to the profile page and resave. It seems to default to F when you load that page. Maybe I'm just trying to get everyone to connect with the feminine side ;)
dude, that's brokeback. Sorry, been saving that one ;)
Thanks TriBro,
It is working fine now. And I could enter my birthday and stuff.
I really like the log

Just uploaded an updated file from Roger which should fix the profile gender issue.
Oh boy - I am Male! :D

are these every going to be public like the blogs are now? I just think it would be nice to see what everyone is doing.
Roger mentioned that he may be working on something like that in the future. I'll ask him if it's still on his list.
I also just updated some files in the log. Roger added a new equipment tracker so that's now available. I'll try to put some tutorials together shortly to help myself and everyone else get a better grasp on all it's capabilities.
I'd like to second rb85cj7 's interest in making them public, it would be AMAZING to see what everyone else is doing .
Ya, prefer that making them Public would be an option.

Yes, I agree. I sent a message to Roger. I think the idea was going to be either a "public" "private" toggle switch or maybe a list of buddies that you create whom could view it. I'll let you know if it sounds like something we can add any time soon.
The "public view" feature it would definately be optional (with the default set to off).
The question is how public do you want it to be?
A) viewable by the whole internet
B) viewable by only those logged in to trifuel
C) viewable by only those on a buddy list of yours
I'm thinking the data displayed in the public view would be the following:
-A weekly hours plots for the last 3 months ish
-The last N days of log entries
-Days to go until any planned events
-The stats for any route used in the last N days.
I was not going to display keywords*. Because who really wants to know everyone's weight varies, etc...
* unless the keyword is link to a sport entry....
Should your current goals (and their progress) be displayed to?
These are just all thoughts as I consider the best way of implementing it.

I'm thinking viewable only by other trifuelers and if it's set to public then any trifueler. That would be a better way to find other potential virtual training partners. If you have to set a list you might miss hooking up with someone who has similar races, goals, training schedule. And if left to the default "private" than noone can see it. My thoughts on private vs. public.
I think what you have as displayed sounds good. Maybe goals instead of routes. Routes is very local where sharing goals may help keep you focused on them and others will be able to encourage the completion of those goals. Even small groups can create the same goals and track one anothers progress. That sounds cool.
Is there any possibility of a calander view rather than a list of workouts from the past 30-days?
"The faster you run, the quicker you'll be done."
i like the goals on there. I know it would help if someone on the site said hey you are falling behind on your bike miles maybe you should pick it up.
I like the idea of only thoses logged into Trifuel. too many others out there.
Hopefully I can get up to speed on this soon.
I like the ideas where trifuelers can view if public.
It will be helpful for finding training partners.
Thanks Roger and Paul :D
Nothing to it, but to do it
Try this:
To go back and find the event. Go to "View Your: Log Entries" And display all keywords by checking "Show Keywords" choosing date range and clicking "filter log". The blank event keyword should be displayed there, with the edit link so you can go in and add the Event Name and details.
Let me know if that worked out.
Tribro, you have been excellent in answering all questions and helping. Just a thank you for all that you have been doing. You have alot on your plate sir. Well done! :)

Thanks. Not just me though, Roger has been awesome through this process. Getting back to me on your questions and fixing any little bugs and adding new features. It's been very cool working with someone really passionate about his product. He's even going to start looking into the "public" viewing option next week.
BTW, I'm making it more public now, so there is a link in the top navigation bar over to the right. Now a shortcut to get into your log.
Still working on a simple blog alternative (no log integration) for Triathlonlife. I'm testing something I setup and may recruit those of you who were interested in a blog shortly.

That worked perfectly! Thanks!
[You don't have to respond, but can I just mention that this site rocks compared to the others of its kind! Good features keep all of us together and learning. The forum is active and interesting. The user reviews are informed. The articles are interesting and growing all the time. The web design is far cooler than any other site of its kind. You're organizing a very successful enterprise here. Keep it up Tribro!]

o.k. gang. I just uploaded the changes Roger sent over...
So now you can share you logs with
1. Nobody - Defaulted to Private
2. All Trifuel members
3. Everybody and Anybody
4. Just a list of Trifuel members "Friends" you create.
You can update this setting in your profile at the bottom of the default settings section. If you choose Share with friends, after saving the updated profile you'll see a link in that section to Edit your Friend list. Click that and add Trifuel usernames of those you want to be able to see your log. The friend view shows totals for the past 30 days and entries, along with your event list and routes.
Let me know if you have any questions...
I am trying to log onto the log. I have signed on, but I keep getting a prompt to log on. I know I am not the sharpest knife in the drawwere, but what am I doing wrong?
how do you link to it if you're not logged into your account? in other words what link do i give to others so they can read it (since there is identification info in http://www.trifuel.com/log/).
also can we link our trifuel profile to our log?
Mike, I'm looking into your issue...
Tri Hard. Nice catch, Yes to share the log send people to:
http://www.trifuel.com/log/view_others.php this provides a page with the drop down list of users who are sharing their logs.
For your specific log it would be:
http://www.trifuel.com/log/view_others.php?selectuser=4557
so the ?selectuser=userid 4557 being your userid
I'll look into linking to it from your profile.
Hey Mike, I think I figured it out. I bet you logged in from the homepage "Sign In" link? Yes? If so i think the issue is the log looks for a cookie set when you log in through the forums. Logging in through the home page looks to not set the cookie.
I updated the log page with a Log In link that will take you to a login form that routes you through the forums and back, so setting the cookie. It should work now.
Thanks for letting me know about this.
also can we link our trifuel profile to our log?
Tri Hard, what exactly do you mean by this? Do you want more of your profile to appear in your log?

Hey guys,
o.k. I think the training logs are ready for you guys to start using. I had a few members check them out and start using and it looks to be working fine.
So here is the beta release of the triathlon digital athletic log. Firstly, a big... HUGE... thanks to rcortesi for donating his log to the site and taking the time from his schedule to make it work seamlessly with Trifuel. Very much appreciated! :D
So...
1. Just go to the url below and the system will automatically create a log for you. Note: You must be a current member and logged in for the system to recognize you and create the log.
2. You'll need to create "Sports" to start logging. This is open for you to add whatever you like, making the log super flexible. As an example, I setup mine to track swim, bike, and run. You can add road cycling, mtn biking, x-country skiing, whatever you like. Note: You must reset the "Sport" entry page to add a new sport, otherwise you'll edit the current one you just added.
3. Edit your Profile. Add you name, birthday, zip code and city, resting heart rate, custom training zones, etc. This will add the current weather and your zones to your log main page.
Here you go:
http://www.trifuel.com/log/
I really like these logs because it's super simple to log in and add your workout. Once you personalize your log it takes maybe 60 seconds to come in and add your workout. This is key for me because I tend to forget to do so or get busy. This log should make it very easy to track your progress over a period of time without requiring much effort.
Though the logs are simple, they are robust as well. There are many other features to the log like graphing your entries, setting goals to track progress, setting up common routes so you can track performance over routes and make it easier to add entries. Also use Keywords to track things like weight, nutrition, shoe mileage, pretty much anything you want to track over time.
Well, Enjoy. I hope you guys find it useful.
