What do training for an Ironman, fighting world hunger and some spare change have in common? It’s my 19 Cents an Hour Campaign, through which I hope to provide 50,000 school lunches to kids from developing nations around the world. I’m asking people to donate 19 cents for every hour I spend training from Jan 2 to June 25, 2006 for my first Ironman distance triathlon in Coeur d’Alene Idaho.

The proceeds will go to the World Food Programme’s 19 Cents a Day Campaign, which raises funds used to provide a daily lunch for hungry students in developing nations around the world. For more information visit my website at: http://19centsanhour.tripod.com or email me at: . Its small change for us, but big change for the world’s hungry children.

Thanks,

Greg

So how many hours do you train a week? :)

Doing your Ironman for charity is a great motivator.
I did mine for the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
When I crossed the finish line I felt a great sense of accomplishment for myself and for the kids I helped.

Kudos to you. Keep up the good work.
I will check out your site about making a donation. :D

Nothing to it, but to do it

I had actually considered doing this (though I won't be doing an IM until next year). How do you guys go about it? Do you basically go around asking people for money, saying you're doing an Ironman?
