:D WELL I AM A COMPLETE NEWBIE TO SWIMMING, AND TRAITHLONS BY THAT PART. I AM A HISH SCHOOL JUNIOR AND HAVE A MOSTLY A RUNNING BACKGROUND. AT MY GYM WHERE I GO THEY HAVE AN OLYMPIC POOL, WHICH IS PRETTY NICE. I HAVE HAD A COUPLE OF SWIM LESSONS WHEN I WAS YOUNGER AND I CANS WIM AND KNOW WHAT BREASTROKE AND FREESTYLE AND BUTTERFLY ARE. I WANT TO START SWIMMING SO THAT I CAN NOT ONLY DO BETTER AT MY TRIS BUT I WANT TO JOIN THE SCHOOL SWIM TEAM NEXT YEAR. I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE HERE HAD ANY ADVICE ON HOW TO START, ANY TIPS OR LIKE TRAINING PROGRAMS TO DO, SICNE I REALLY HAVE NO IDEA ON WHAT TO DO. IN TERMS OF DISTANCE OR SHOULD I USE A KICKBOARD, FINS ETC. I REALLY DONT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH TIME IT CAN BE ANY DURATION. SO ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GREAT.

get swim lessons from a swim coach or someone who really knows how to teach swimming. Swimming is ALL techinque and it is far better to start off with the good technique than to try ad find it later on in life.

You can go with a coach - or - get the Total Immersions DVD (or go to a TI workshop). TI does help you through all of the positioning/form/technique etc. - just takes patience and time.
