Alright. Inventory check!
In my bag, I have:

SWIM:
2 pairs TYR swim goggles (1 clear, 1 smoke - prescription lenses)
1 Xterra full suit ventilator (it's actually hanging in my closet)
1 sleeveless tank bike jersey
1 Pearl Izumi tri shorts
1 3-qt plastic food container (for dipping foot into and washing off sand after the swim)

Bike:
1 pair Adidas sunglasses (prescription lenses)
1 pair Answer Palissade cycling shoes
1 spare inner tube
1 hand pump
2 bike levers
1 Giro Atmos helmet

Run:
1 Nike running visor
1 pair Nike Free 5.0
1 no-name $5 race belt

Misc:
dozen safety pins
half dozen energy gels
1 old bath towel to put over the sand on transition area
1 pair socks - sometimes I just like having socks.
1 sweatshirt
1 windbreaker
1 pair sweatpants
1 headband light (very useful if setup opens at 4:30am)
1 pair regular prescriptions glasses
2 bottles water
1 XL Ziploc bag (to store wet wetsuit)

Bike: Aluminum Argon18 bike w/ aero bars

Swim:
goggles and back up pair
Small hand towel to claim my space and wipe the feet after the swim
Bike:
Helmet
Bike shoes
Gels
Shades
Socks

Run:
Visor
Race Belt
Flats

I wear my shorts and jersey (if wearing one) under board shorts and T shirt to the race. Keeps things simple. I dont like hauling a lot of crud.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

Misc items:
Gotta have some Body Glide,
Powder for shoes,
Pam cooking spray for easing the removal of wetsuit.
I will use a cap for the run and not a visor, cuz with a hat you can fill it up with ice to really cool off when hot out.
Floor pump, spare CO2, tube, bike tools.
Garbage bags to cover bike if have to leave in transition over night before the race.
Duct tape.
Extra swim cap.

RV - I have had that "cap v. visor" debate for unhealthy amounts of time with myself before finally settling on visor. Both options seemed to have strong arguments for and against.
On top of that "nothing" seemed like a good option too sometimes.

I went with visor because I wanted more airflow to my head while getting shade on my eyes.

Yup,

Before I push the bike towards the Transition Area, I use the floor pump, and check the tightness of all the bolts on the bike. Before close the door on the truck, I check the 'Race Kit' of the bike, add the drink bottles, helmet on the bars, shoes on the pedals, slip on my flats, and push the bike to Transition.

Bike - Shoes, Helmet, Water bottle to leave in the Transition Area, towel for a quick wipe coming off the bike, and plastic bags to cover seat/shoes in case of rain.

Run - Shades ( need to get a prescription pair), Visor, Body Glide, Sun Screen, and race belt.

And don't forget the Duct Tape... Or the Sun Screen!!!!! Save you skin, apply the Sun Screen. Also, roll up the pants and tank a little, make sure the stuff is under the clothing a little.

I also like wearing my racing tank and shirt to the race, I just slip on the socks and shoes beforeI stage my bike ( I'm a Duo guy ).

Have you tried a Nike Dri-Fit hat? They rock. They have a few different types. The checkered mesh ones are very thin.

you would!!!!

seriously though, if I was at a race and saw some guy pull off his wetsuit and start biking in a red thong, I think I would laugh my ass off and pull out of the race, so maybe it is a good thing.

Yup, the mesh hat is the way to go - get good airflow - best of both worlds.

Yes, the material is checked but pretty much solid (very thin). It's not like the back of a John Deere hat.
