Now I know they are not as good, but for a guy that has a family and is on a fixed budget.....hehe. Anyone had experience with these? Till/if I get the $ for zipps, these will have to do. Thoughts?

They come like this and attach to a 32 spoke wheel.

I don't have any experience with the covers, but I am seriously considering one. check this out: http://www.wheelbuilder.com/thumbnail.asp?offset=0&deep=1&cid=25
It is a bit more customizeable than the CH. It is slightly more than the Ch, but you can get it trimmed to your exact wheel. I think the extra ~$10 is worth it.

I have no idea if those are any good. From what I understand the Renn 575 is pretty good for the money for a disc wheel. $450.

I wish I had the money for a disk because the Renn would probably be my choice because I'm always on a budget, but right now I'm trying to save up for a Tri bike. I figure the wheel cover will have to do for now....

Here is my understanding but this is word of mouth stuff so don't take it for gospel. The principles of aerodynamics from one disk to the next are essentially the same. On analytic cycling’s website they note that the difference of coefficients of drag between a HED and a Zipp disc are only 3 ten thousands Cxo. Back to what I heard word of mouth but if you put areo cover on a super light wheel with a good hub it may even work better than a heavier disk (if you are on a hilly course).

I also asked a bunch of people about covers versus discs and nobody could tell me why disc covers would be at a disadvantage over a regular disc other than dimples (which are only on Zipp) and the screws needed to fasten the disc cover. I figure I can put a little tape over the screws which barely stick out anyway.

I believed this stuff enough that I bought a cover from Wheel Builders a few month ago. I am going to use it at Ralph’s in March. I will let you know how it goes.

Hey BBB. Just an FYI - I just took a look at the ebay link you posted. I didn't see where they listed what type of rim and hub it would fit. When I ordered mine from wheel builders they were very concerned about knowing my exact rim measurments and hub measurements. The ebay price looks really good but you may want to make sure it will fit your wheel.

My understanding with the CH cover is that it is a generic size and the buyer has to trim it to fit.

CAcyclingFAN, do you know if the decal/sticker/logo of "wheelbuider" on the disk cover is removable?

Ya I think it is generic and YES, must be fitted. I called the boulder store and talked to the guy about the disk. He told me that the cover works for a 9 spd 32 spoke wheel. Said if it's less than 32 spoke there are prob. I told him my setup and he said it was good. Derek, let me know how the disk goes in the race. I will look into the Wheel Builder site and speak with him. Thanks for the input guys. I figured that the covers are not much (if at all different) from the full disk. I mean it's only air that has to be streamlined right?

Yeah, the logo is just a basic sticker.
