Has this happened to anyone else? I was running last night in the dark. About 45 minutes into my run I was on a trail with street lights. I was in my little zone....feeeling good, when I noticed my shadow and another which appeared to be behind me. I was sorta scared so I speed up to only realize the 2nd shadow was still there and seemed like catching up with me.

I then went into panic mode and stopped and was ready to fight. Well, I guess street lights can give the impresion of two shadows from one person because there was NO ONE befind me. I felt like a dumb ass at the time but it seems really funny as I was writing my blog.

Please tell me this has happened to someone else, lol!

Indeed, I have witnessed the double-shadow. Although it didn't scare me or put me in fight mode, it was a bit weird to see 2 shadows of myself running down the street.

Oh yeah, definitley. Often times I run through Fairmount Park here in Philly. When I gets dark, it's often a hangout for suspicious characters. There have been a couple of occasions I have scared myself with my own shadow.

If you wish to be out front, then act as if you were behind.

that isn't KINDA funny..

THAT was HILARIOUS!!

(only because I've thought the same thing - just didnt freak about it)

oh and I have one for you guys:

Have any of you been running and avoided each and every manhole lid because you KNOW that if you were to step on it, it would spin and your leg would fall through like the roadrunner/coyote cartoons ? HAHAHAHA (caught myself doing just that lastnight)
(just curious)

That was very funny!!! In part just because it's funny in it's simplest form but also because I have scared myself that same way. I'm glad I'm not the only one out there scared by my own shadow. The good thing is that it generally makes me run faster, a little speed work is good for you.
