Try blowing your nose ;)

Havent tried it. When i am congested, I just take one of those generic little pink antihistamines.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

You can also try to sniff a weak solution of salt water.
1 teaspoon per cup of warm water.
Then blow your nose

I use Nasonex in preperation and during allergy season. It works pretty well. However, note "in preperation". The stuff doesn't work overnight. You gotta use it regularly for a few weeks before you get the full benefit.

on a serious note...You may have allergies or even a sinus infection. I would see a doctor. Just me.

I use Nasonex right before I swim--I used to have problems with nasal congestion following swims--it turns out I am sensitive to the pool chemicals. A few squirts of Nasonex, though, presto no problems. This might be your problem if you are swimming a lot. Tell your doctor (it's prescription only) that you think you might be allergic.

Have you been tested for allergies? It doesn't take much to cause recurrent congestion, if you otherwise feel well.

Does your body build up a resistance to it??

My Two Cents from a Medical Point of View:
Nasonex, is a great medication for allergy season, but has to bee used with caution...now the question is Why???
Well Nasonex is a delivery form of a corticosteroid, that has the action to reduced the inflamatory and irritative state of your nasal mucosa. The result is a better feeling of less congestion, less rhinorrea (excessive mucus) and so on.
Now since is a corticosteroid, it has an impact to your inmune system, making it a little weaker, leaving you uncovered for viral infections, like flue, or other bacterial infections like sinusitis, laringitis, and so on.
So I would be a little careful, and of course your primary care doc will have the last word on it. Now from my own profesional point of view, for an athlete, I would stick with just Normal Saline solution wash and a few days of decngestands...maybe some OTC antihistamines and nothing more.
Hope this helps my friend

I haven't built up any resistance to Nasonex. Since I only use it before I get into the pool, it's 3 times a week that I use it. If I do additional recovery swims, 1/2 hour in the pool doesn't seem to require it. I've used Nasonex for about 4 years, and I have never had nasal congestion post-swim again.

I didn't realize it had steroids in it. Oh well, I am mildly allergic to many things, and pool chemicals aggravate them, so I look at this as part of my regular allergy maintenance.

Thanks for the lowdown Doc!!

I have heard some negatives about using nasal sprays.
In general I try not to over-medicate anyway.

I get a stuffy, runny nose after the pool, because I know they overchlorinate it. It eventually goes away on its own.

CAREFUL!!! "Danger, danger Will Robinson". I forgot to mention Chris that the little rubber elephant CAN potentially suck out brain tissue if you stick it too high in the nostril. Look, I am living proof! :D
