contacts

anyone have a problem in the swim wiht contacts?

kyle

Kyle ~ I did my first two tris last summer and was completely freaked out/worried about wearing my contacts. I wear hard/gas perm, as opposed to soft which are water-friendly. I think the key is just to make sure that you have good quality goggles which will not let in water or readily get knocked off. Worst case scenario, I had my glasses ready in transition in case I lost one and needed to switch for the remainder of the race.

No really. Have wore contacts for 14 years at over 70 tri events and with the exception one time when my goggles were kicked off, with the exception of sweat in the eyes my contacts serve me well. To me the trick is making sure the are clean and ready to wear on race day especially when doing a long race and you know they aree going to be in there for quite some time.

For those who cannot were contacts. I have a freind who purchased RX swim goggles and dropped some good money on RX race glasses.

I wear one day Acuvue and have never had a problem. I believe they are a little bigger in diameter than most contacts which helps them stay in if water ever sloshes in my goggles. On race day I keep a few extras with a little mirror in my transition bag but I've never had to put in a spare during a race.

Ditto to what CAcyclingFAN said. I wear FOCUS DAILIES and they are great. Never lost one swimming but if I did, no big deal, I would just pop in another one at T1.
If I lost both at once, that might be a problem depending upon where I was, could be exciting though.
