ll in all the consensus is to train outside of family time. If you want to make it happen you will find the time outside of family life. Involve the family if they want and have fun.

I agree with bluebird. If you love it and want to still be invovled in this sport, you'll work somethin' out. I have hard times to w/ my 2 yr. old but have people who help me out to watch her while I go out or I take her in her joggin' buggy w/ me. You'll be alright.
Oh...yea. Congratulations. :)
I started training for my first races last November and my wife and I had our first child in January. The activity has helped keep me sane by giving me time to myself and also the energy to keep up with everything that's going on. Just be flexible, communicate with your wife and make yourself look forward to getting up at 5 for a workout in the cold and dark morning. It's really worth it.
And hang around here. There are plenty of us AGWK's (age grouper with kids) around that are happy to support one another.
I'm in the same situation as you are. My wife and I are expecting our first in June and so far my wife has been very supportive. She knows that I will be there whenever she needs me and help with the baby. However, she knows how important this is to me. I'm not going to ask her to sacrifice something that she loves because of the baby. It's going to take some rearranging of our schedules, but I don't plan on missing too much training time. I've noticed that my schedule has been lacking on the length of some of my training, but that just means that I have to train smarter. Good luck and congratulations!

Hello everyone!! I have been involved in tri's for the last two years. My wife and I are expecting our first in a few weeks. My training is already starting to suffer from lack of time, how do I stay focused and still be a great dad?
